Dr Phil Simpson

Consultant Clinical Psychologist 

Dr Phil Simpson (DClinPsy, CPsychol) is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years of experience working across NHS, academic, and independent practice settings. He has extensive experience supporting people with a range of psychological problems and long-term health conditions to overcome their difficulties. Dr Simpson specialises in treating anxiety, low mood, eating disorders and the psychological impact of traumatic life events. He has served as an expert witness.

Core areas of expertise:

  • Dr Simpson is trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and systemic theory for treating psychological problems – including depression, anxiety, body dysmorphia and post-traumatic stress disorder 

  • He is trained in Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and has used this extensively in work with people living with long term health conditions and cancer 

  • He has specialised training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) 

  • He can carry out specialist psychometric assessments (e.g. following brain injury)
